INSTALLATION COMPLETED
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Well, all that needs to be done now is for you to
reboot your computer to put the changes to your system
into effect. From then on, just type: TCP <ENTER>
to activate your TCP/IP station.
You can of course add "TCP" as the last line in your
AUTOEXEC.BAT file so NOS will start whenever the
computer reboots.
You must make sure that your TNC is in KISS mode and
running at the right terminal speed (read the help
invoked by pressing <ALT><F10> in the install screen
beneath this window) and remember; if all else fails,
read the tnc manual!
You can speed NOS up a little by using programs like
FASTOPEN (in your DOS directory), and, if you aren't
using a hub, edit the domain.txt file so that your
local region addresses are at the top of the file.
If you find you are short of memory, consider an
upgrade to a later version of MS-DOS or try using the
programs like VIDRAM or ABOVE640 which both reclaim
some of the video graphics memory for program use.
Keeping an eye on the trace screen when running NOS is
very good practice, but it does slow things down
considerably. You'll notice a big difference if you
turn the trace off when not in use.
Don't forget to have a look in your TUTORIAL directory
for useful tips. I'm sure your local stations will be
more than pleased to lend a hand.
Do have fun and remember; Share and Enjoy!
Type: <CTRL><Q> to Quit now and don't forget to reboot
your computer before attempting to run NOS!
